The Co-Producing Artistic Directors of American Bard Theater Company, Erin Gilbreth and Cheri Wicks, were both founding members of ABTC (established in 2009) and began their current leadership positions together in 2017. Their specific interest is in examining power structures and personal relationships in America, basing their creative choices in the text provided by American playwrights. ABTC began as a classical theater company producing works by William Shakespeare and other established “bards” such as Tennessee Williams but has evolved under Cheri and Erin’s leadership to the exploration of new and modern “American Bards”. They favor projects that give voice to women, people of color, members of the LGTBQIA+ community and/or seniors.
