Yesterday, I supported my friend Cathy's project: Crossing Bridges. Cathy works for Covenant House in NYC and this impressive program that she dreamed up pairs some of the teens from the shelter with Broadway stars to write and perform short plays.
I don't have any photos because Cathy asked us to refrain from taking photos. Covenant House is obviously protective of their kids and I respect that. The plays were prompted by fairytales and the kids put their own (mostly subversive, but very funny) twists on them. It was fascinating to get into the minds of these young people and because of the way the program to the show was printed, I found myself asking more than once, "Is this a homeless teen or a Broadway star?" I'm serious. Sometimes I couldn't tell who was who! I know it was a TON of work to produce, but I hope that Cathy will present this program again next year because it was a very special night and the cast blessed the audience so much with their offering.
