Ironically, the gal who got me into Holidailies bailed out to attend to her stories (which I think is fantastic!)...and I ended up bailing as well, but for my own reasons. Yet, I wanted to return to the commitment on the last day and share what I got from the experience.
Even though I wasn't blogging daily, I was thinking a lot: thinking about this site, thinking about blogging. I've decided that I cannot commit to a regular schedule of blogging right now because I'm in it to figure out my process, not to build an audience and turn it into a business. If I wind up in a community because of this blog, that would be great! But, I'm not aiming to comodify my blog, so I can't work it as if I am. I will admit that it was pretty heady to receive tons of hits from people checking out my link at the Holidailies site. So lovely to see those numbers go up! For a New York minute I thought to myself, "Oh. This is how people get blog famous...I could get blog famous!"
However, putting up content when I didn't have something that felt important for me to say was just....oh gosh, not for me. Draining. To be blog famous, you really got to be okay with churning it out on a schedule. I have other projects in my life that I need to show up for. I can't spin out lots of content. If anything, I need more space in my life to be still and silent. That was good to learn!
I met a couple of cool people through the Holidailies project and I was directed to a wonderful blog that lines up with my beliefs -- so I got that, too! Abbey of the Arts has been encouraging us monks to meditate through the month and ask for a word for 2014. I've been patiently (and actively) waiting for my word to show up for me and it FINALLY came this morning:

I like this word because it invites my presence. I must be present in order to make a decision. Present is what I want to be(come). Also, it reminds me of my free will -- and what is more human than that?
When things are not going my way --
I can choose patience.
I can choose gravitas.
I can choose thanksgiving.
I can choose joy.
I can choose abundance.
I can choose enpathy.
I can choose discipline.
The list goes on and on. It starts with my choice. I feel like this is the perfect fit for me right now.
