What, you never...just jet off to Europe for the weekend?
Crazy, but apparently I do stuff like that.
Fred had his stage debut in KMC OnStage's "A Streetcar Named Desire." I promised him when he auditioned that if he booked the job, I would fly over to see him. I was so glad that I did. The production was top notch! I watched it three times - That's pretty much all I did this weekend: sleep and watch Fred's show!
Since I had an 8 hour flight over to Germany and back again in four days time, I spent a lot of time reading and watching movies:
**Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." I am doing a first read-thru of an adapted script of the book next week. I haven't seen the script yet, so I thought it would be a good idea to simply revisit the original material.
** "Lincoln" -- I love interesting people and this movie is full of 'em
** "Somewhere in Time." -- Christopher Reeve in a three-piece suit...? Rawr.
Earlier in the week, before my Germany adventure, I helmed a table-read of Mark Twain's "Is He Dead?" (adapted by David Ives). I felt like it went well - the people I selected to participate showed up prepared and excited. They seemed to have fun. That's what I wanted - a fun night. I've been working my TAIL off lately and if I don't deliberately carve out time for fun, who will?
