This was my second time running the New Years Eve midnight run with New York Road Runners.
<-- That right there is the "apple cider" toast that's provided halfway through the race.
I almost didn't go because I felt lonely with Fred over in Germany. Plus - it was COLD. But I sucked it up at the eleventh hour (literally - 11pm) and got into my corral just before midnight.
It was exhilarating. I didn't feel alone, running with an estimated 10,000 like-minded runners. I was really glad I pushed past my resistance and showed up.
This week, I also saw two movies in the movie theater - which is such an ordeal for me because I find movie theaters in NYC too chaotic for my delicate sensibilities. But I was social, y'all...in a crowded place. TWICE. I saw "Les Miserables" and Cirque de Soliel's "Worlds Away". I liked "Les Miserables" -- shout out to Eddie Redmayne's freckles. What. Those freckles are CUTE.
I also saw "Grace" on Broadway. I loved the way the play is written - very complex. I especially loved the way the set rotated during the scenes verrrrrrry slowly. It was moving so slowly that it was almost imperceptible - that is such a great device for a play that constantly challenges "point of view". I wish the crew came out at the end for a bow - I wanted to give them a big round of applause for working that out so seamlessly. I loved it.
