Monday night started with a successful staged reading of Noel and Company's offering of J.M. Barrie's What Every Woman Knows. Everything fell into place with this reading. Magic. Not that I didn't work my butt off, because I did - I was ripping apart two pieces of costume jewelry with needle nose pliers at midnight - mere hours before my call time on the day of performance - and working them into one necklace. It was decided in rehearsal that a very specific necklace, referred to in the script, was needed and it was too late to go shopping for one. When I brought in the piece that I fashioned the next day, one of the actors exclaimed: "Wow, if stage management doesn't work out for you, you can always go into jewelry design!" ....Dear Lord - that would be a fall-back to the fall-back. I hope it doesn't come to that.
Meh. Growing pains post-show blues. The rest of the week, I spent a lot of time on the couch.
** "Behind The Candelabra" -- a much needed guilty pleasure.
** "Beasts of the Southern Wild" -- profoundly touching!
** "The September Issue" -- Anna Wintour documentary. Pretty fascinating creature.
All of the above happened before the weekend, which was its own crazy marathon. I had "Trustee Camp" on Saturday (an all-day team building session - woo hoo) plus two concerts at church on Sunday morning, followed by the Worship Arts annual "Guac Off" competition/end-of-the-season party and a Tony Awards fundraiser for American Bard.
So...yeah....I pretty much crashed and burned on Monday of this week, licked my wounds on Tuesday...now recalibrating and posting on Wednesday. Whoo boy.
Here's some pictures of the fun:
