So many adventures last week. On Monday, we rented a car and drove to the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Gardens in Staten Island. So...um. You need to know that the "Botantical Gardens" part of the grounds are beautiful, but nearly all of the "Cultural Center" buildings are under construction right now. I would advise low expectations, a picnic and a stay in the flowery part of the grounds. We especially liked the Secret Garden (...because who doesn't like The Secret Garden, right?) We also liked the Healing Garden, which is a winding-road meditative tribute to the folks of Staten Island who lost their lives on 9/11.

On Thursday, I met up with my good friend Ellen (you need to check out her theater website!) We saw Venice at The Public. It's a riff off Othello and marketed as a "hip hop" musical. It was pretty good. I paid $15 for the ticket and it's still in development. Let's go with that.

On Friday night, we went to Zebra Cake at Beauty Bar. Fred loves stand up comedy (and has even performed once upon a time!) It's been ages since we had gone to a show together, so we decided to head on over to Beauty Bar after work. Unfortunately, we had to leave about 40 minutes before the show was over (and before the only female comic went on - bah!) because my lingering cough kept kicking in every time I laughed and it was so painful. We ducked out so I wouldn't ruin anyone's set when my incessant coughing, but we will go back again soon.

I'm excited about lots of upcoming plans. I love summer.

And this week started with a very busy schedule as well - but then again that is no surprise. xo
